In 1984, Ray started his education journey after graduating Grade 12 from M.E.I. in Abbotsford, B.C. He started his post-secondary education at Fraser Valley College (now University of the Fraser Valley), during which time he remained active playing varsity basketball and balancing his full study schedule. From there, Ray continued onto Simon Fraser University where he graduated in 1988 with a Bachelors of Science, majoring in Biology. His final stop was the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of British Columbia in the graduation class of 1992. At that time Ray celebrated the completion of his education, but already believed the process of learning would be ongoing through many stages of his life.
In 1992, Ray bought a dental practice on Gladwin Road in Abbotsford, B.C. from Dr. Chris Wyatt. Since then, he moved the practice to its current location in 2003, to become part of the Historic Downtown Abbotsford community. He and his staff enjoy the central location, as well as experiencing all the exciting growth and new trends happening in the downtown core.
Ray’s biggest passion is people and relationships, and if you have spent anytime with him it will not take long for you to experience that firsthand. He truly enjoys getting to know his patients and their families, spending time connecting with them. He is humbled to have many three and even four generation families represented in his practice, caring for many toddlers in the past who are now married with children of their own! Ray is also passionate about learning and using technology in his profession. He stays current with the latest technology and also uses new techniques that enables his office to be efficient and provide the highest standard of dental care. His passion to give back is also a part of who he is, always looking for ways to get involved in tangible community needs.
When Ray is not in the office making people smile, he enjoys experiencing new cultures and making new friends, while travelling with his wife Carrie. He enjoys the great outdoors whether it is on the slopes or on the water, as long as it’s on a board. If he is looking for relaxation, he will find a peaceful lake, take his float tube with a fly rod in his hand.
